Once upon a time when I was an intern at Deseret Book I met a lady named Liz Edmunds who wrote a cookbook called "The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner." She wrote a cookbook that is divided up into theme nights. Things like Mexican, Italian, Grill night, pizza night, comfort food, Fish and meatless, and Family tradiations. I absolutly loved her and her cookbook so I bought a copy and she autographed it for me. However, I have made a couple of recipes in the past 2-3 years and the book has mostly gone to waste.
Soooooooo I have decided to make a new cooking goal. I am going to cook all the recipes in her cookbook by July 31 2012. That gives me one year to cook all of the recipes. I don't know how many there are exactly, but its less them one a day. I know what you're thinking, "hey, that sounds a lot like a movie that was made call Julie and Julia" and yes you are right. This is exactly where I got the idea. I have always loved the idea of that movie and I think it a great goal.
I am beginning my first recipe tomorrow with crockpot potroast. I made it tonight and will put it in the slow cooker in the morning. I'm already a little worried because my crockpot is too big for the recipe, so I double everything except the meat and I had to add a bit of water that make sure the whole roast was covered. I will let you know how it goes and what my next meal will be!
