The new Gig

I just completed my second week at my new job, The Studio Backlot Tour, and it is going so so. I wasn't exactly excited about taking this job in the first place and here's why. I loved working at Star Tours. It was by far my favorite location I have ever worked at Disney and I had so much fun there. But when I got a call for a transfer to front desk, I said good bye thinking that front desk would be the best track for a career. Unfortunatly I only got a part time job at front desk and they were not giving me any hours. So when they called and gave me the option to go back to attractions full time, it was an easy decision. It's really hard to pay the bills on zero hours a week. At first I was excited about the Backlot Tour because they are only open in daylight, which means my shifts never go past 7:30pm. But I quickly realized a completely outdoor location is miserable. To make matters worse I get madatory overtime every single day. Because we are only open from 9-7 they don't split the shifts to opening and closing, it's pretty much just you open and close. So for the next five days I will be working 7am-7pm give or take a few. The hardest part is standing on cement all day long. I'm not used to that because Star Tours was carpeted and front desk had standing mats. The whole two weeks have been pretty hard on my body.

As much as I'm sure you're tired of my complaining I will just whine about one more thing. The people. The cast is very small. We only have six positions and so there are not a lot of options of people in the first place. But so far there are very few promising people to be friends with. And the guys are all either gay or in a relationship. Sure puts a damper on telling guy stories on my blog. Sorry folks!
