A few months ago I decided I had enough of merchandise and wanted to put in for a transfer. I had family vacation planned in August so I waited to put in for the transfer until August 1st to be sure I could make the trip and it worked out perfectly. I received a call the day I got back from Idaho that I would be transferred to Hollywood Studios Icon attractions. I found out a few weeks later that I would specifically be at Star Tours but there is hope I could be cross trained to a different attraction within a few months. I started September 12th with my week long training. My first day was an intro to Hollywood Studios which was a lot of fun. We took a two hour long tour and I learned a lot about the park. My training the rest of the week was all on the job learning every position and safety rules. I caught on pretty quickly, it's not rocket science. Last Monday I had my assessment and passed everything perfectly. And yesterday was my first day on the job by myself, all and all things have been going smoothly.
The only problem I discovered today is that somehow my schedule got completely messed up and so I was only recorded available to work sunday, monday, tuesday when in reality I was supposed to be available Tuesday-Saturday. Hopefully it is being fixed and I will not have to work Sundays after next week.
My other new beginning is that I was released as Family Home Evening coordinator yesterday. I have been in that calling for over a year and was feeling really burnt out. Plus with all my scheduling issues, I'm not even able to attend FHE currently. I was called as the Family History Indexing coordinator. Basically I will be trained to index and then I will have a committee that I will have to train. It's great because I can do it on my own time and any scheduling issues wont make a difference.
It's funny because for a while now I have been thinking about asking Brother Krieder (the member of the bishopric who called me) to learn how to index and do family history and I guess this was just the push I needed. It's great how things work out.
